Vöhringen - Double arson? Suspect arrested

First a semi-detached house, then a woodshed - there have been two fires in Vöhringen (Neu-Ulm district) in recent days. In both cases, the police suspect deliberate arson and arrested a 34-year-old suspect, as the officers announced on Wednesday.

A woodshed in a residential area caught fire early on Wednesday morning. According to the police, the emergency services prevented the fire from spreading to a neighboring residential building. The damage was estimated at around 3000 euros. No one was injured. Officers arrested the suspect at the scene after securing evidence.

According to initial findings, there is a connection between the fire and a fire in a semi-detached house a few days earlier. Two apartments were so badly damaged in the fire on Sunday that they were initially no longer habitable. The damage amounted to around 100,000 euros. No one was in the apartments at the time of the fire.

The public prosecutor's office in Memmingen applied for an arrest warrant. According to the police, the suspect will be brought before a magistrate on Thursday.
