- Dortmund's Özcan prepares for transition to Wolfsburg's squad
According to sources, Turkish footballer Salih Özcan is close to parting ways with Borussia Dortmund and moving to VfL Wolfsburg. Reports indicate that Özcan, 26, who is contracted to Dortmund until 2026, said his goodbyes to his teammates during recent training sessions. It's alleged that he'll be loaned to Wolfsburg for a year with no buy-out clause.
The signing of teammate Pascal Groß has significantly reduced Özcan's chances of game time. Furthermore, players like Emre Can, Marcel Sabitzer, and Felix Nmecha, who are currently preferred by coach Nuri Sahin to Özcan, are hampering his chances. Coach Sahin decided not to include Özcan in the starting lineup for both the cup match against Phoenix Lübeck (4:1) and the opening league game against Eintracht Frankfurt (2:0). Despite being signed for around five million euros in the summer of 2022, Özcan failed to secure a regular spot in the Dortmund team.
In search of more playing time, Salih Özcan might consider a move to another German club, potentially Germany's VfL Wolfsburg. Due to the presence of players like Pascal Groß and Emre Can in Borussia Dortmund, Özcan has struggled to secure a consistent spot in the team.
