In high temperatures, a woman in Weiden, Upper Palatinate, took matters into her own hands and smashed a car window with a stone to supposedly rescue a dog. The 74-year-old had indeed previously worriedly alerted the police but grew impatient. On Tuesday, she saw the dog in a car on a parking lot and, concerned about the heat, freed the animal. Shortly after, the owner returned from shopping, and a disagreement ensued. Soon after, the patrol arrived.

According to police reports, the dog was in good condition. The 74-year-old is being investigated for property damage and may have to cover the costs. No investigation is being conducted against the dog owner. Police advise waiting for officers to arrive in similar situations, as they can take the necessary steps.

Meanwhile, freeing a dog waiting in a car in Garmisch-Partenkirchen was less complicated. A resident also spotted a dog in a car parked on a street on Tuesday and called the police. The car was parked in full sun. The man promptly freed the animal himself. The 63-year-old dog owner is being investigated as the dog was in the car for over an hour at around 30°C. Fortunately, the dog was unharmed.

The woman's actions involved breaking a vehicle's window to save a dog. The 74-year-old's actions led to an investigation for property damage due to the smashed car window.
