Dog allegedly switched on stove: Fire department operation
Two dogs in Weil am Rhein (Lörrach district) are suspected of having switched on a stove and thus triggered a fire department operation. The four-legged friends were alone in an apartment in an apartment building when a smoke alarm went off, a police spokesman said on Thursday.
According to initial findings, two plastic dog leads were smouldering on a glass plate above the hob. It is likely that one of the dogs got hold of a knob on the hob and accidentally switched it on, the police explained.
No one was injured in the incident on Wednesday. Firefighters took the leashes outside and ventilated the apartment.
The incident reminded neighbors of another odd occurrence, where fires were caused by their curious pets playing with household appliances. Despite the furry suspects not being directly linked to any 'Animals' setting 'Fires' in this story, it underscores the importance of pet-proofing homes as a 'Curiosity' can often lead to unforeseen consequences.
