Bundesliga - "Do everything": VfB continues to make efforts for Guirassy and Co.

Sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth continues to hope that key players Serhou Guirassy, Waldemar Anton and Deniz Undav will remain at VfB Stuttgart in the long term. "We are doing everything in our power and it will certainly not fail because of us," the 44-year-old told TV channel Sky on Thursday about the efforts to keep Guirassy. The striker has already scored 18 competitive goals this season. His contract with the Swabian Bundesliga club runs until June 30, 2026, but an exit clause should allow him to leave the club in the winter.

"He senses how much the fans love him. He can feel how the team needs him. And he also feels how everyone wants him to stay here with us," Wohlgemuth said of the 27-year-old Guirassy. "He's a very decent guy and that doesn't leave him cold."

VfB would like to extend the contract with defensive boss Anton, which expires in 2025. "The captain's armband speaks for itself," said Wohlgemuth about the defender's importance. "And it's also the case that we naturally want to work together in the long term. But he also has to think carefully about the next step in this very special phase of his career. And that's what we're doing." There is currently nothing to report in this personnel matter.

VfB would also like to sign striker Undav, who is on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion until the end of the season, permanently. "There are several parties at the table and we don't have the greatest weight at this table," explained Wohlgemuth. "Deniz has a contract at Brighton and the club in England will play a leading role in deciding how the situation develops." They are working on it, said the Stuttgart sports director. But here, too, it will take time.
