On the Baltic coast in Schleswig-Holstein, media reports indicate an increase in sightings of Portuguese man o' war, particularly when the wind is blowing offshore. The German Lifesaving Association (DLRG) recorded over 80 cases last weekend where people had to be treated after coming into contact with these jellyfish while swimming, as reported by NDR and Bild newspaper. The DLRG advises using shaving foam on the affected area, letting it sit, and then gently scraping it off with a dull object to relieve the skin's burning sensation.

In response to the increase in incidents, the DLRG provided advice to use shaving foam and a dull object to treat affected areas after coming into contact with the jellyfish.
