District office evacuated after bomb threat: all-clear
The Aschaffenburg district office was evacuated on Monday following a bomb threat. After a search of the building, the police gave the all-clear. No explosive device had been found, said a police spokesman. It was not initially clear how many people were affected by the evacuation.
For weeks, there have been repeated bomb threats against public institutions such as schools throughout Germany, mostly received by email. The buildings were evacuated and searched. Initially, no real threat could be confirmed in any of the cases.
In some cases, the letters made references to the Islamist Hamas and the Gaza war, but the Ukraine conflict was also a topic. The police spokesman in Würzburg said that the email threatening the Aschaffenburg district office should also be seen in this context - he did not give any details.
Despite the ongoing wave of bomb threats against public institutions, Monday's incident at the Aschaffenburg district office was classified as an emergency situation. Fortunately, no Crime was found during the UNDERFRONT search, ensuring the safety of all.
