- District Leader: Swiftly Redeploying Sternbach Workers to New Positions

Due to the impending closure of the financially struggling Sternbach Clinic in Schleiz by the end of this month, as declared by the county administration, they're making efforts to provide alternative job opportunities for the clinic's staff. The county administration stated, following discussions with various medical and care sector employers, "Even though the hospital's location is in Schleiz, we aim to secure a future within the region for the more than 150 employees."

These employees should be provided with new job opportunities with minimal bureaucratic obstacles and delay. Particularly, there are numerous vacant positions for skilled nurses available, offering local employment opportunities in the future. The current offers and demand are being documented and organized to present potential career options to the hospital staff by the end of this week.

In light of its inability to cover its expenses of 2.1 million euros with its monthly income of 1.5 million euros, the Sternbach Clinic in Schleiz needs to shut down by the end of August. According to County Administrator Christian Herrgott (CDU), the clinic has been in insolvency proceedings since the end of June.

However, the county council faction of the Independent Citizens' Representation UBV/FDP/Werteunion has reportedly filed a criminal complaint with the Gera public prosecutor's office, alleging insolvency delay and fraud against the management of Sternbach Clinic GmbH. A spokesperson from the public prosecutor's office could not verify the receipt of the complaint as of Monday. County Administrator Herrgott expressed, "The need for a criminal complaint is redundant, as the insolvency administrator will independently investigate this matter."

The Sternbach Clinic staff, facing job loss due to the clinic's closure, will appreciate any assistance in finding new roles within the hospital or nearby facilities. The closest potential employer, with numerous vacant positions for skilled nurses, is located within the region.
