Gütersloh district - District Administrator Sven-Georg Adenauer will not run again in 2025
Sven-Georg Adenauer, District Administrator in the Gütersloh district, will not be standing in the next local elections in 2025. This was announced by the district on Tuesday. The CDU politician and lawyer announced this decision to his employees by email.
The next election is expected to take place in September 2025. He will then be 66 years old. After 26 years in office, he said he felt it was right to make way for someone else. Adenauer is the grandson of Konrad Adenauer, the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany (1949-1963).
Sven-Georg Adenauer has been in office in Gütersloh since 1999. He has been elected five times in a row. He became known nationwide during the coronavirus pandemic because the number of infections in the district was initially higher than anywhere else in Germany. Life was massively restricted by an early lockdown. Germany's largest slaughterhouse, Tönnies in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, also had to stop production.
