- Display presents concepts for constructing Broad Street's development.
Exhibits showcasing strategies for Breiten Straße renovation in Berlin-Mitte are presented at an exhibit in the Neue Rathaus. These displays, stemming from a competition initiated by the Urban Development Administration and Berlin-Mitte's municipal housing company, will remain accessible until September 22nd. Attendance to the show, located on Parochialstraße, is free as indicated by the Senate Administration.
The competition jury, responsible for planning a new set of residential and commercial structures in proximity to Schlossplatz, granted first, second, and third placements for each of the five partitioned plots in July.
Archaeological Finds to Preserve
The objective of the competition was to create five distinct buildings that would also contribute to a mixed-use district, with a provision to establish low-cost housing.
A significant aspect of the competition was to save archaeological discoveries unearthed from excavations on Breiten Straße and integrate them into future applications within an upcoming Archaeological Trail.
The ground floors of the structures will emphasize dining and retail options, while the Urban Development Administration envisions the upper floors to include rental apartments catering to diverse population groups and commercial spaces.
The award-winning designs from the competition will significantly contribute to the renovation of the housing sector in Breiten Straße, enhancing the availability of affordable living spaces. This renovation project is expected to stimulate the growth of the local economy, attracting various population groups with its diverse housing options.
