Display case for exhibition on Jewish Moabit damaged
A display case in front of Tiergarten Town Hall with an exhibition on the Jewish history of Moabit Hospital has been damaged. A spokesman for the Berlin police said on Sunday that it was not yet certain when the incident occurred. A report was received on Sunday. The police are still investigating the incident.
Aro Kurp, board member of the "They were neighbors" association, told the German Press Agency that apparently a stone had been thrown into the display case and possibly burning paper. Among other things, a pane had been destroyed and traces of soot could also be seen. The exhibition had been on display in the showcase on Mathilde-Jacob-Platz since the beginning of November and was due to remain on show until the end of December.
The damaged display case incident might be construed as an act of criminal vandalism. Regrettably, recent reports of anti-Semitic incidents have been on the rise in Berlin, causing concern within the Jewish community.
