- Disorders at pro-Palestinian rally – injured individuals
At a Palestine support rally in Berlin, around ten law enforcement officials sustained injuries, as per official statements. Protesters launched around 30 to 40 filled water bottles and eggs at them, with some rocks additionally being tossed, a police spokesperson revealed. Counter-protesters were also attacked, leading to a woman getting struck in the head and injured. A demonstrator was injured within her own group after being hit by a stone in the neck.
Approximately 250 people assembled at Moritzplatz in Berlin-Kreuzberg on Saturday night, with the rally swelling to approximately 1,000 participants. Police reported widespread pro-Palestinian and hate speech chants, as well as the harassment of a media team.
Post-demonstration incidents
Over 400 officers were deployed and intervened multiple times. The event organizer was urged to prevent any lawbreaking, and there were considerations to disband the gathering due to numerous offenses. The event was concluded shortly after 7 pm by the organizer.
However, some protesters refused to leave and continued to chant pro-Palestinian and hate speech slogans, along with those of the Palestinian militant group Hamas. Some participants hurled bottles and flagpoles at the officers.
Later on, police reported that 24 individuals were temporarily apprehended, and 31 criminal investigations were launched, including charges for assault, assault on police officers, severe public disturbance, and hate speech.
Despite the organizer's efforts to dismiss the rally, a group of protesters was deliberately excluded from the dispersal order, choosing to remain and escalate the situation with further protests and violence. Subsequently, these individuals faced consequences for their actions, with several arrests and criminal investigations initiated.
