"Disgusting from the first minute": Bochum long for a home win

VfL Bochum are longing for a sense of achievement in their own stadium. "There's no question that we finally want our first win at home. We will approach the game accordingly, but without going wild," said coach Thomas Letsch ahead of Saturday's clash with VfL Wolfsburg (3.30pm/Sky).

Bundesliga - "Disgusting from the first minute": Bochum long for a home win

VfL Bochum are longing for a sense of achievement in their own stadium. "There's no question that we finally want our first win at home. We will approach the game accordingly, but without going wild," said coach Thomas Letsch ahead of Saturday's clash with VfL Wolfsburg (3.30pm/Sky).

The fact that his team is still the only Bundesliga team without a home win this season and clearly lost both games against the North Germans last season with a goal difference of 1:9 is an additional incentive for the soccer coach: "If we are Wolfsburg's favorite opponent, we have to do everything we can to change the statistics. If we're disgusting from the very first minute, it will be difficult for them to take anything away here."

The 55-year-old, who extended his contract in Bochum until 2026 during the week, is hoping that the recent upward trend of four games without defeat (3 draws/1 win) will have a positive effect. Letsch understands the criticism of the 14th-placed team's mixed results so far, with seven draws in the first twelve games alone, but warned against expecting too much: "We're not satisfied with the points haul so far, but we're exactly where everyone expected us to be in the table. If we end the season in this position in the table, most of the people in Bochum will be very, very happy."
