Darmstadt's police force has recovered 816 marijuana plants and around 10 kilos of the substance during a raid in Lingenfeld, as announced by the Südhessen Police Headquarters on Wednesday. This action was taken as part of an ongoing Belgian investigation. The suspects had transformed three out of four rooms in the house into a sophisticated indoor cannabis farm, complete with lamps, air filters, and irrigation systems. The person who lived there and another man, suspected of taking care of the plants, were both taken into custody.

In connection with this investigation, authorities also searched an apartment in Bürstadt and arrested its occupant. There, they discovered several grams of marijuana, €2400 in cash, and equipment believed to have been utilized in the drug trade. Both locations had their mobile phones and laptops seized as well. The three men are currently being held in custody and are facing charges for their alleged participation in large-scale, unauthorized narcotics trafficking.

The seized marijuana plants and substances are suspected to originate from a large-scale cannabis farm in Germersheim, Rhineland-Palatinate, as hinted in the Belgian investigation. Authorities are searching for any links between the suspected individuals and the Cannabis plantation in Germersheim. The case has drawn attention to the increasing prevalence of Marijuana cultivation and drug trafficking in the Rhineland-Palatinate region.

In the arrest records, the suspected persons are associated with both Darmstadt and Bürstadt, two cities in Hesse, illustrating the regional spread of unauthorized drug operations. The Altes Land Kreis prosecutor's office in Darmstadt is now handling the investigation, collaborating with the Hesse Police Intelligence and Criminal Investigation Department (CID), to delve deeper into the drug trafficking activities.

The case has put the spotlight on the collaboration between local law enforcement and international agencies in the fight against illegal drug production and distribution. Historically, the Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse regions are known for their thriving plantations, but this illegal plantation of Cannabis plants has brought an unwelcome and criminal element to these regions' tradition.
