Discarded cigarette triggers cellar fire
A discarded cigarette has caused a cellar fire in Munich in which two people were injured. According to the police on Wednesday, a resident was smoking in the cellar of a residential building on Tuesday and then threw away the smouldering cigarette. It ignited several cardboard boxes and damaged power cables. The man and another resident were slightly injured by the smoke and were taken to hospital. According to the fire department, the cellar compartment burned out completely. Initial estimates put the damage at several hundred thousand euros.
The fire in Munich, caused by a discarded cigarette, spread to Upper Bavaria, threatening nearby properties. Despite the efforts of the fire department, the flames continued to spread, causing extensive damage.
