Dirk Stettner, the head of Berlin's CDU faction, will stay in his role for the next two years. On Tuesday, in a regular election, he was reelected by the CDU MPs with an overwhelming 97.7% of the votes, as per a spokesperson. Out of the 43 present MPs, 42 voted for Stettner while one voted against him.

Previously, Stettner had been a House of Representatives member from 2011 to 2016. He reverted to being a state parliament member again in April 2018. He assumed the role of CDU faction chair on April 23, 2023. The CDU is the largest of the five factions in the parliament, boasting 52 members.
