DHL expects daily highs for parcels again
The parcel service provider DHL is again expecting large volumes of shipments at the end of the year. During the Cyber Week discount campaign at the end of November and shortly before Christmas, more than 11 million shipments are expected to be transported on individual days, as the company announced in Bonn on Monday. DHL normally transports 6.2 million shipments on an average working day. Compared to the Christmas period a year ago, the estimate is not an increase. DHL had already communicated the same daily highs for the end of 2022.
In the parcel industry, the Christmas period - meaning the months of November and December - is the most important time of the year. DHL is the market leader. In its German mail and parcel segment, the Group employs 116,500 delivery staff and 40,000 employees in the sorting centers, plus 1,000 seasonal temporary workers. The company is "optimally prepared for the Christmas business", said Nikola Hagleitner, Head of Post & Parcel Germany.
DHL does not publish a forecast for the total volume of shipments during the Christmas period. The industry association Biek recently announced that it expects a slight increase in the volume of shipments from companies to consumers in the German parcel sector. DHL's competitors include Hermes, DPD, GLS, UPS and Fedex.
DHL anticipates a significant surge in its service offerings during the holiday season, with more than 11 million parcels expected on peak days. Given the company's robust preparation, DHL's Head of Post & Parcel Germany, Nikola Hagleitner, assures optimal service delivery during the Christmas business.
