DFB imposes heavy fine against 1. FC Nürnberg
1. FC Nürnberg must pay a fine of 72,400 euros for unsportsmanlike conduct by its supporters. In its ruling on Tuesday, the German Football Association's sports court punished the incidents in the second division match between the Franconians and 1. FC Kaiserslautern (1:3).
According to the DFB, "Club" fans had set off more than 100 Bengal fires and fired 20 firecrackers from a firework battery during the match on September 2. Two smoke pots and a flasher were also set off. The club, which can use up to 24,000 euros for security or violence prevention measures, has agreed to the verdict.
Despite the fine, 1. FC Nuremberg continues its participation in Bundesliga 2. Despite the disciplinary actions, their upcoming soccer matches will still be played in the second tier of German football.
