Deutschlandhaus on Gänsemarkt nearing completion

The new Deutschlandhaus building on Hamburg's Gänsemarkt is nearing completion. The ABG Real Estate Group will initially take the building into its own portfolio and act as landlord, it was announced on Wednesday during a media tour of the new building. The largest tenant by far is Hamburger Sparkasse, which will bring all 1,700 employees together in one location for the first time. The handover of the already completed but not yet furnished rental space is planned for December, with the move-in scheduled for the end of March. The main branch on the first floor will then open a little later.

The Deutschlandhaus was designed by Hamburg-based architect Hadi Teherani. His new building replaces a similar Kontorhaus on the same site, which was built in 1929 and demolished 90 years later to make way for the new building. The declared aim was to rebuild the historic building without copying it faithfully. Inside, the new building contains a large Palm Hall, which will also be accessible to the public via an escalator from Dammtorstrasse. The investment sum is estimated at around 480 million euros.

According to ABG, 99 percent of the rental space has already been marketed. Only two loading areas on Drehbahn and Valentinskamp with a total of 500 square meters of rental space are still available. "The tenants Block House and Aston Martin were handed over the rental space in November for their own expansion," it said. "The openings are planned for the second quarter of 2024." Letting of the apartments has also begun. All units should be occupied by the second quarter of 2024.

The ABG Real Estate Group will manage the recently completed Deutschlandhaus building, which they will utilize in their portfolio. The real estate market in Hamburg will see an addition with the completion of this modern building, designed by Hadi Teherani.
