Many construction sites at the railway - Deutsche Bahn presents semiannual report
The Deutsche Bahn is drawing up its economic balance sheet for the first half of the year on Thursday (11:00 am). The company is still facing difficult waters: Extreme weather events, particularly in June, led to an unusually high rate of delays. The problems also became apparent during the Football European Championship, resulting in the company once again receiving heavy criticism.
Currently, the comprehensive modernization of important corridor sections is running, with the aim of making the aging network fit for the long term. The section between Frankfurt and Mannheim has been closed for renovations for a few weeks now. By 2031, the general modernization of 40 further corridors is planned. For passengers, this means initial restrictions. However, after the modernization of the central section Frankfurt-Mannheim, long-distance traffic should be more reliable again.
Despite the ongoing traffic disruptions due to the construction site between Frankfurt and Mannheim, the train services operated by German Railways continued to operate during the recent Thunderstorms in Europe. The semiannual report of Deutsche Bahn, set to be released on Thursday, will undoubtedly highlight the challenges faced by the company in managing traffic in Berlin during the European Football Championship, a city known for its heavy traffic. The construction project and the championship contributed to the heavy criticism the company received, emphasizing the need for improvements in German Railways' operations.
