Deutsche Bahn announces additional trains for Christmas
The routes concerned include Berlin-Göttingen-Frankfurt, Hamburg-Hanover-Frankfurt-Basel and Cologne-Frankfurt-Stuttgart-Munich. In this way, Deutsche Bahn wants to "enable a relaxed start to the holidays", explained Michael Peterson, Member of the Executive Board responsible for long-distance passenger services. Despite the additional trains, Deutsche Bahn recommends "reserving a seat in any case".
Rail travelers do not have to worry about train cancellations due to strikes during the holidays. Deutsche Bahn is currently involved in a wage dispute with the train drivers' union GDL. However, GDL boss Claus Weselsky gave assurances a week ago that there would be no further industrial action until January 7. On Wednesday, however, he announced "longer industrial action" for the period after that.
