Even though the floods during Pentecost weekend caused destruction, vacationing in Saarland is still an option. Tourism Saarbrücken announced this on Monday. Not every region was impacted by the flooding. For example, one can pedal along the St. Wendeler Land bike trail, explore the Bliesgau UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, or witness the Saarschleife. Additionally, guests can tour the oldest monastery in Germany in Tholey and experience the Urban Art Biennale at the World Heritage Site Völklinger Hütte. Locals in Saarland feverishly battled against flooding and floodwaters for several days throughout the long Pentecost holiday.
