Despite FC misery: Continued support for coach Baumgart
Steffen Baumgart has clearly ruled out resigning as coach of 1. FC Köln. "I'm not even close to resigning or giving up," Baumgart said on Sport1 after the 1:1 (0:1) draw at VfL Bochum on Saturday. After eleven games, the European Cup participants from the previous season are at the bottom of the table with just six points. Nevertheless, Baumgart does not have to fear for his job at the moment, even from the club's perspective.
"If I'm convinced of something, I won't change it. And we are very confident in Steffen Baumgart and his coaching team," confirmed sporting director Christian Keller on Sunday's "Doppelpass" and said with regard to the fight against relegation: "We can do it with Steffen Baumgart."
Despite their current struggles in the Bundesliga, 1st FC Cologne's fans continue to show unwavering support for their coach, Steffen Baumgart. A winning streak in Bundesliga's top-tier soccer league is what 1st FC Cologne and their coach Baumgart are aiming for, to improve their current position in the table.
