Despite compulsory leash in nature reserve: roebuck killed
Two dogs have killed a young male deer in a nature reserve in Bühl (Rastatt district). A police spokesman said on Friday that the two owners had let their dogs run around freely despite the obligation to keep them on a lead. The dogs discovered the young animal, chased it and tore it down. A witness called the gamekeeper, who rescued the seriously injured animal. Proceedings were initiated against the dog owners for hunting poaching. If they are convicted, they could face fines or prison sentences of up to three years. The incident took place at the end of October.
The incident highlights the need for stricter enforcement of nature conservation laws, particularly in relation to animals like deer in nature reserves. Failure to adhere to leash rules can lead to unfortunate incidents of animal crime.
