Despite coaching job: Mattuschka remains TV pundit
Torsten Mattuschka will remain a TV pundit for Sky despite his new job as coach of regional league soccer team VSG Altglienicke. This was confirmed to the German Press Agency by a spokesman for the pay-TV channel. The ex-professional, who is used by Sky for second division matches, has taken over from coach Karsten Heine at Altglienicke, from whom the club parted company on Tuesday.
According to the club, the former assistant coach will coach the team together with Dan Twardzik until a successor for Heine is found. Mattuschka, who played for Energie Cottbus and Union Berlin among others, has been working for Sky as a pundit for four years and is also a co-commentator.
Mattuschka's soccer coaching role at VSG Altglienicke won't affect his media duties, as he continues to work as a pundit for Sky's soccer coverage on television. The news about his new job was shared on numerous media platforms, including articles on the Internet. Despite coaching in a regional league, Mattuschka's reputation and experience have allowed him to secure a spot in the media sphere, often providing analysis for second division matches.
