Design award ceremony and exhibition opening in Halle
Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle is dedicating several prizes and an exhibition to outstanding current work by design students. The awarding of the twelfth "GiebichenStein Design Prize" on Wednesday in the rooms of the Saxony-Anhalt Art Foundation is also the opening of an exhibition with all the nominated and award-winning works.
According to the university, the exhibition will be on display until December 10. It is intended to provide an insight into the latest design concepts, innovative materials and experimental products.
For this year's edition of the competition, 22 works and projects were nominated by a four-member jury. The design prize is awarded in four main categories, each of which is endowed with 500 euros. Four special prizes are also awarded, according to the statement. Applications were mainly received from the communication and industrial design sectors.
Burg, as the university is known, was founded in 1915. With more than 1000 students, it is said to be one of the largest art colleges in Germany. A good 50 professors and 60 academic staff supervise students from all over the world.
Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle hosts regular Exhibitions showcasing various forms of Art, including this one that features the nominated and award-winning designs from their Design award ceremony.
