Derby at the end: Braunschweig looking for new coach

Eintracht Braunschweig, who are bottom of the table, go into the explosive second division derby at Hannover 96 under very difficult conditions. Regardless of the result of the game (Sunday, 1.30 pm/Sky), the third coach of the current season is to be hired in the coming week, because interim coach and former player Marc Pfitzner does not have the necessary soccer instructor's license for the 2nd Bundesliga. According to a report in the "Braunschweiger Zeitung" (Friday), those responsible have rejected plans to place a license holder at his side.

"It's absolutely not about me," said Pfitzner on Friday. "I'm trying my best to convey to the boys the atmosphere that awaits us there and to create the best match plan in terms of content."

The 39-year-old already coached the team last week in the 4-1 defeat to Fortuna Düsseldorf. Ahead of the tough and heated clash with their arch-rivals, Braunschweig are without a win in eight games and are already seven points behind a safe non-relegation place in the table.

"The derby is something very special and we will do everything we can to win it," said Pfitzner. "I can feel the commitment and the will. But against teams like Düsseldorf or Hannover, almost everything has to go right for us to win games like this."

Despite being without a win in eight games and seven points below the safe non-relegation zone in Bundesliga 2, Eintracht Braunschweig is eager to secure a victory in their derby against Hannover 96. Regardless of the outcome, the club is set to hire a new coach with a valid soccer instructor's license for the 2nd Bundesliga, as interim coach Marc Pfitzner lacks the proper license.
