Local Judicial Body or Fundamental Trial Court - Dental office fatality trial initiates against anesthesia specialist
Following the unfortunate demise of a young girl during a dental operation, the trial against the former anesthesiologist commences on Monday (9:30 AM) at the Frankfurt Regional Court. The accusations against the now 67-year-old include bodily harm leading to death, among others. They claim he failed to adhere to the minimum standards of safety and hygiene during the anesthesia procedure.
The incident occurred when the four-year-old girl was administered anesthesia at a dental clinic in Kronberg, Hochtaunuskreis, during the fall of 2021. It's alleged that bacteria infiltrated her bloodstream, leading to her death within the clinic.
Three other children are reported to have suffered from sepsis in a similar manner on the same day while undergoing anesthesia. Consequently, the anesthesiologist is additionally charged with inflicting dangerous bodily harm in the trial.
The major criminal division has allocated seven trial days, with an anticipated verdict by the end of September.
During the trial, it was highlighted that the anesthesiologist allegedly disregarded the importance of Health and safety regulations, contributing to the unfortunate events. The accusations also include charging him with inflicting dangerous bodily harm due to his negligence.
