Agriculture - Demo procession with 160 tractors, trucks and cars in Stuttgart
A demonstration with 160 vehicles caused traffic obstructions in Stuttgart city center on Saturday. However, there was no major traffic chaos, said a police spokesman. Tractors, lorries and cars were involved in the demonstration. The demonstration ended in the afternoon without incident. The start and end point of the procession was the Cannstatter Wasen.
Similar demonstrations had also taken place in other federal states such as Bavaria and Berlin. The protest was against the plans of the traffic light coalition to abolish tax concessions for agricultural diesel and also to levy vehicle tax on tractors, combine harvesters and harvesting machines. The German Farmers' Association is planning a protest event in Berlin on Monday.
