Food delivery service - Delivery Hero cuts jobs at Berlin headquarters
The food delivery service Delivery Hero is cutting jobs at its Berlin headquarters and closing two tech centers in Taiwan and Turkey. With regard to the workforce at the Berlin headquarters and the global service teams, this means - together with the redundancies in January - a reduction of around 13 percent in the current year, as the company announced on Monday. This should increase efficiency. Delivery Hero did not disclose exactly how many jobs will be lost in Berlin, where around 3,000 employees work.
Asia is the most important, but also a difficult region for the Group. Delivery Hero wants to divest its Southeast Asia division on the way to achieving its profitability target. Delivery Hero intends to sell its Foodpanda brand in a number of countries in the region, as the MDax-listed company had already announced in mid-September. Instead, the Middle East and North Africa region is becoming increasingly important, while Europe and South America play a comparatively minor role.
