Damage to an elevated power line - Delays impact rail service linking Cologne and Düsseldorf.

A malfunction of the overhead power line leads to complications in train travel between Cologne and Düsseldorf. Frustrating disruptions took place during peak hours on a Friday morning, leading to delays and cancellations in both local and long-distance travel. Due to the issue, the RRX lines RE1 and RE5, as well as long-distance trains, had to be rerouted between Cologne-Mülheim and Düsseldorf, causing considerable delays. Furthermore, trains on S-Bahn lines S1 and S6 experienced partial shutdowns. The railway attempted to transport passengers to their destinations using replacement buses at selected stops. Initial estimates suggest that the issue will be resolved by approximately 9.00 am.
