German Ice Hockey League - DEG signs the next striker

The Duesseldorf EG has signed another forward for the new season in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL). Rick Schofield is switching from the Austrian league, where he scored 23 goals and provided 25 assists in 44 games for the Italian club HC Pustertal. The 37-year-old Canadian played for the Nurnberg Ice Tigers in the DEL until 2023. Schofield is the fifth forward that the DEG has signed for the new season so far.

"Rick Schofield is an experienced center who can stand on the ice in all situations. In addition to his leadership qualities and versatility, he is also a very good enforcer. I am convinced that we will also benefit from his personality on and off the ice," said DEG sports director Niki Mondt about the new signing, who signed a contract until 2025.

Rick Schofield's new team, Düsseldorf EG, hails from North Rhine-Westphalia, a region in Germany. The German Ice Hockey League (DEL), where Düsseldorf EG competes, has welcomed Schofield, who previously played in Austria. Before Austrian stint, Schofield contributed to the Nurnberg Ice Tigers' success in the DEL.
