Defense ministers from the EU confer with Stoltenberg and Umerov.

European Union defense ministers convene in Brussels on Tuesday at 10.30 a.m. to deliberate on additional aid for Ukraine. Expected attendees include NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, who will participate remotely.

Defense ministers from the EU confer with Stoltenberg and Umerov.

Stoltenberg suggests that Western weapons be used against Russian targets to give Ukraine more options. Otherwise, he says, they're restricted. But, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) is concerned about escalating the conflict if Ukraine, armed with German weapons, fights on Russian soil. On Monday, the EU foreign ministers talked about Ukraine's situation. Hungary gave strong criticism, preventing more EU military aid from being given to Kiev, worth billions.
