The current mayor of Suhl in southern Thuringia, André Knapp from the CDU party, has won the recent mayoral election with a remarkable 82.1% of the votes. His competitor, Steffen Hartwig from the Left, lagged behind with only 17.9% of the votes. Surprisingly, no other candidates joined the race. Knapp has been in charge of Suhl since 2018. This city in the Thuringian Forest is home to approximately 37,000 residents.
