Criminal Case Regarding Enhanced Armed Theft - Defendant with a 34-year age bracket appears in courtroom
Around three years post a bust in a Berlin-Tegel community garden, a trial against one of the presumed culprits commenced. The 34-year-old is being indicted for enhanced robbery and grievous bodily harm.
He is claimed to have been among several aggressors who breached a garden shed in July 2021, apparently housing four individuals. Under the threat of knives and physical force, the aggressors allegedly compelled the handover of cash and a vehicle. The defendant's legal representative mentioned that their client would offer a statement at a later time.
Four to five other unidentified individuals are speculated to have participated in the nocturnal raid. A 21-year-old at the time was alleged to have been beaten with fists. The aggressors made off with the victim's vehicle and €70 in cash. DNA fragments discovered in the car implicated the 34-year-old as one of the suspected culprits. The father of four was apprehended roughly four months back and has been detained since then.
"He demanded money and car keys."
The then 21-year-old, who took the stand first as a witness, stated he and three friends were relaxing on the couch in his grandfather's shed when suddenly mysterious individuals appeared. "He demanded money and car keys." A knife was pointed at his neck.
One of the attackers is said to have brandished a gun, drawing it out of his pants. The witness claimed they couldn't confirm whether the robbery was linked to drug deals. The trial will carry on on September 6.
The suspect is accused of taking possession of a victim's vehicle during the incident. During the robbery, the perpetrator reportedly demanded both money and the car keys.
