Defeat against Verl: Mannheim still in crisis
SV Waldhof Mannheim's sporting crisis in the 3rd Football League continues to deepen. The deserved 1:2 (1:0) against SC Verl on Friday evening means that the Mannheim side have now gone eight games without a win and remain 18th in the table and in a relegation spot. Another defeat will increase the pressure on coach Rüdiger Rehm after the team and coach were given a resounding send-off.
In front of 6868 spectators, Mannheim started the game well, exerted a lot of pressure and took an early lead through 18-year-old home-grown talent Kennedy Okpala in the 12th minute. The visitors, who climbed to third place with the win, became increasingly dominant as the game progressed and turned the encounter around after the break. Oliver Batista Meier (49) and Lars Lokotsch (63) scored for Verl.
Despite the promising start in front of 6868 spectators, Mannheim's struggle in the 3rd league continues. The team, currently in 18th place and battling relegation, suffered another defeat against SC Verl, losing 1:2 after being dominant in Soccer during the first half.
