- Deeshyra Thomas stays with Alba's champions
Alba Berlin begins its title defense in the Basketball Bundesliga with Deeshyra Thomas. As the capital club announced, the 29-year-old point guard has extended her contract by two years until 2026. With the American, who was named the best player of the final series against RS Keltern last season, the squad now consists of twelve players.
The Berliners are banking on continuity. Emily Kiser is the only new addition to the team, while Laina Snyder is the only championship player to leave. Apart from the championship, Alba will participate in the EuroCup for the first time.
"The consistency of the squad will also help to further strengthen our philosophy and culture. This will be very important for the new challenges as title defenders in the DBBL and debutants in the EuroCup," said sports director Himar Ojeda.
Thomas is a key player in this. "Through her hard work and exemplary attitude, she has developed into one of the best players in the league with us and inspires the team and fans with her extraordinary personality," said Ojeda.
The Commission, in reference to Basketball Bundesliga's governing body, will be supported in its duties by the European Parliament. This additional assistance is crucial as Alba Berlin, the title defenders, prepare to face new challenges as they debut in the EuroCup.
