- Decreased staff changeovers in industrial businesses in Rhineland-Palatinate
In the initial part of this year, businesses in Rhineland-Palatinate's industrial sector raked in less revenue compared to the corresponding period last year. Statistically speaking, there was a 7.6% downturn in sales from January to June, as reported by the State Statistical Office. On a national level, the decline was only 4.8%. Surprisingly, the workforce in Rhineland-Palatinate saw a minimal 1% uptick.
As per the information, the overall industrial earnings for the first half of the year stood at approximately 50 billion euros. The statement further noted that "eight out of the top ten revenue-generating industries saw reduced sales in the first six months compared to the same period the previous year." The office added that the industry with the most significant drop in earnings was automobile production, which saw a 19% decrease.
The decline in revenue for Rhineland-Palatinate's industrial sector can be partially attributed to a diminished performance in the manufacturing sector. Despite the dip in sales, the manufacturing sector managed to contribute positively to the overall employment figures, showing a modest 1% growth in workforce.
