- Decreased outbound shipments from Saxony-Anhalt

In the initial half of 2024, exports from Saxony-Anhalt took a dip compared to the year prior. The total value of exported goods amounted to 11.4 billion euros, a drop of 1.6% compared to the previous year, as revealed by the State Statistical Office based on preliminary findings from foreign trade statistics.

Prominent commodities included chemical and pharmaceutical products, metals, machinery, and food and animal feed. Concurrently, goods worth 12.9 billion euros were brought into Saxony-Anhalt, marking a 4.9% increase compared to the previous year.

Approximately 70.7% of all exports were dispatched to European Union member states. Leading nations receiving these exports were Poland (1.4 billion euros), the Netherlands (1.0 billion euros), Czech Republic and France (each 0.8 billion euros). Beyond the European Union, major export destinations included the United States (0.5 billion euros) and the People's Republic of China (0.4 billion euros). Poland maintained its position as the primary international trading partner.

The drop in exports from Saxony-Anhalt was evident in the detailed statistics released by the State Statistical Office. Despite the decline, chemical and pharmaceutical products, metals, machinery, and food and animal feed continued to be significant export items.
