Fewer Cars Registered in Saxony-Anhalt
The number of cars per 1,000 inhabitants in Saxony-Anhalt has dropped in recent times, as previously reported by the State Statistics Office in Halle. As of January 1st, there were 558 cars per 1,000 residents as compared to 562 cars the previous year. This marks the first decrease in car density after years of continuous growth. Saxony-Anhalt's car density is lower than the average in Germany, which is 582 cars per 1,000 people.
Halle and Magdeburg have the least amount of cars per 1,000 inhabitants, with 393 and 466 cars respectively. Conversely, the Saalekreis and Landkreis Börde had the highest car density, with 630 and 626 cars per 1,000 inhabitants.
Overall, the State Statistics Office found that 1,220,279 cars were registered in Saxony-Anhalt by January 1st, 2024.
