Wittenberg University: New Scholarship Opportunities Available - Deceivers struggle with calling scams.

In Wittenberg, a swindler on the phone tried to convince an 85-year-old man to pay for his daughter's release from allegedly being arrested. The scammer impersonated a police officer from the Wittenberg district and told the elderly man his daughter had been locked up and could be freed for a price of 80,000 euros. The real authorities in Wittenberg verified this news on Saturday. The grandfather said 80,000 euros was out of his reach. The caller then suggested 40,000 euros or payment in gold or jewelry, but they still had to discuss with the bailiff, who didn't exist. After the 85-year-old informed one of his three daughters about the trap, the con failed. The authorities are now looking into the matter.
