DEB wants to host men's and women's ice hockey world championships in 2027

The German Ice Hockey Federation wants to host the Women's World Championship for the first time in 2027 in addition to the Men's World Championship. This was confirmed by DEB President Peter Merten on Friday during the Deutschland Cup in Landshut. Talks with the IIHF, President Luc Tardif and the DEB have taken place in recent days. "It will be on the agenda of the IIHF committee at the end of November, beginning of December. Then there will be a quick decision. We'll know at the beginning of January," said Merten.

The plan is for the women's tournament to take place directly before the men's World Championship, which begins in Düsseldorf and Mannheim. The women's final will also be held in the same city as the men's event.

Landshut is currently hosting the first combined Germany Cup for the two DEB selection teams.

The German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB) is aiming to organize both the Men's and Ice Hockey World Championships for Men in 2027. This will be an exciting opportunity for women's ice hockey as well, as DEB also intends to host the Women's World Championship for the first time during this period.
