Death investigation proceedings - Dead man in building with bank in Saarlouis - large-scale police operation

At a large-scale operation in Saarlouis, police found a deceased person in a business building with a bank. "At the beginning of the operation, there were indications of a possible firearm use," Saarland Police Presidium in Saarbrücken stated. Therefore, police cleared the area in the city center of Saarlouis and established a wide-ranging blockade. However, the indications of a possible "firearm incident" were not confirmed by the police.

Whether "self- or external influence" caused the man's death, "is the million-dollar question - we cannot make any statements yet, as the crime scene investigation is still ongoing," a police spokesperson explained. "There will probably be nothing more coming today." A death investigation procedure is currently underway with investigations "in all directions."

Special Operations Forces

A call came in to the police that there was an unresponsive person in the building with a financial institution. The first suspicion of a possible firearm use in local connection with a bank triggered the large-scale operation, the police spokesperson said. Special operations forces, as well as officers from the Operational Unit in Saarland and a forensic doctor, were also present.

Construction work in the business building had complicated the operation. The police spokesperson made no statements about the deceased person. The police had already reported that there was no acute danger.
