- Dead in refugee camp - Suspect released

After the suspected homicide in a refugee shelter in Rostock, the police have identified a suspect, according to their own statements. However, the investigators have not yet been able to provide sufficient evidence to support a strong suspicion of guilt and thus justify remand. Therefore, the public prosecutor's office initially rejected an application for an arrest warrant, the police said. The 26-year-old Ukrainian, who was taken into custody immediately after the incident on Monday, was therefore released on Tuesday. However, he remains a suspect. The investigation continues at full speed, especially against the 26-year-old.

In the shared accommodation Elbotel, a 46-year-old Ukrainian man died on Monday. An employee of the security service found the man severely injured around midday. The summoned emergency doctor could only confirm the death of the 46-year-old, as stated by the public prosecutor's office and the police. No details were given about the nature of the injuries or a possible motive. According to the findings, the scene suggested a homicide.

Following the discovery of the suspected homicide at Elbotel, it's crucial for the police to maintain vigilance and continue their investigation. The suspect in the refugee shelter case, although released, remains under police scrutiny due to his involvement in a suspected homicide.
