On Thursday, two bodies were discovered in Mönchengladbach, identified as a married couple. The 70-year-old man and his 60-year-old wife were found unresponsive in their single-family home following a concerned witness's tip-off, according to police.

A firearm was recovered at the scene. Based on the discovery, investigators suspect a homicide-suicide. There's no indication of a third party's involvement. The bodies will be examined later today.

The homicide investigation into the sequence of events and the crime scene processing are ongoing, police said. No further details about the case are being released at this time, according to Mönchengladbach police.

The police statement mentioned, "The following is added: A preliminary cause of death is pending for the investigation." After examining the crime scene, investigators added, "The following is added: No signs of forced entry were found in the couple's home."
