During the European Football Championship happening in Germany, DB Regio Nordrhein-Westfalen plans to provide train conductors with bodycams. Frederik Ley, the NRW branch head of Deutsche Bahn, reveals this news in the Düsseldorf "Rheinische Post" (on Saturday). At first, 30 train conductors in regional or S-Bahns will wear these bodycams. This project is inspired by a similar one in Bavaria. Ley describes how customer service representatives there suggested turning on the bodycam for video recording during tense situations.

The railway predicts busier traffic due to the championship from June 14 to July 14, extending beyond long-distance trains and into local trains and S-Bahns in NRW. As four out of the ten stadiums are in the most populated federal state (NRW), Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Gelsenkirchen, and Cologne, and match announcement adaptations will be made for foreign guests. "If Italy plays in Dortmund, for instance, we'll have Italian announcements instead of just German and English ones," Ley shared.

The European Football Championship will bring about heightened security measures. For instance, German borders will be more closely monitored. Neuss will host an international police center along with NRW's four host cities, Dortmund, Gelsenkirchen, Düsseldorf, and Cologne.
