Herrstein-Rhaunen - Daycare center evacuated after fire in sports hall: No injuries

Following a fire in a sports hall on Wednesday afternoon in Herrstein-Rhaunen, a daycare center has been evacuated. The 18 children left the daycare center building in the Sensweiler community unharmed, according to the police in Idar-Oberstein. A nursery school teacher had discovered the fire, which had started when a gas burner was being used during roofing work. Nobody was in the sports hall when the fire broke out. The fire department was on site with 40 firefighters and quickly extinguished the fire.
