Dax holds 16,000 points - investors become more cautious
The DAX weakened only slightly at the start of trading on Monday. It remained above 16,000 points. On Friday, the leading German index exceeded this level for the first time since August, the high point of a four-week rally. However, investors are now more cautious for the time being, as inflation data from the USA and Europe will be on the agenda in the coming days.
In the first few minutes of trading, the leading German index fell by 0.14% to 16,007.60 points. The MDax of medium-sized companies rose by 0.05 percent to 26,227.98 points. The eurozone index EuroStoxx 50 was also little changed, down 0.02 percent to 4371.28 points.
The MDAX, comprising medium-sized German companies, experienced a slight increase, while the DAX, known as Germany's primary stock exchange, hovered slightly below its 16,000-point mark. Investors may also be closely watching the performances of other indexes such as the SDAX and Eurostoxx, given their impact on the overall German and European markets.
