Stock exchange in Frankfurt - Dax falls slightly
The DAX's record-breaking run came to a halt on Thursday. In early trading, the leading German index fell by 0.23% to 16,618.66 points. The day before, it had reached another record high of 16,727 points.
The MDax of medium-sized companies fell by 1.15 percent to 26,430.92 points on Thursday. The eurozone index EuroStoxx 50 fell by around 0.2 percent.
The performance of overseas stock markets invited profit-taking. In the USA, the broad market S&P 500 closed the previous day with slight losses at the day's low. Sellers also dominated in Asia in the morning.
On the German market, Lufthansa shares fell by more than three percent. JPMorgan had downgraded them twice from "overweight" to "underweight". Analyst Samuel Bland fears that significant capacity expansions in an environment of lower economic growth could put the yields of traditional airlines under pressure again.
Shares in Borussia Dortmund (BVB) fell by four percent following the DFB Cup defeat at VfB Stuttgart. This means that the shares are once again down slightly this year.

JPMorgan Chase, a prominent global investment bank, made a downgrade on Lufthansa shares, changing their rating from "overweight" to "underweight". This decision could put the yields of traditional airlines under pressure due to potential significant capacity expansions in an economically challenging environment.
Despite the DAX's slight decline, Frankfurt remains an important location for stock exchanges, including the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, MDAX, and DAX. The MDAX, representing medium-sized companies, saw a 1.15% decrease on Thursday.
