Data protection experts meet in Lübeck to discuss data protection in medicine
The independent data protection supervisory authorities of the federal and state governments will meet in Lübeck on Wednesday. The topics of their two-day meeting will include data protection in medical research and data protection in medical registers, said Schleswig-Holstein's State Commissioner for Data Protection, Marit Hansen, on Tuesday. The further development of data protection will also be a topic at the meeting.
In addition to technological change and its impact on data protection, the institutionalization of the data protection conference planned by the federal legislator will play a major role, said Hansen. "I hope this will lead to even closer cooperation between the supervisory authorities," she said. "This is particularly important in view of the developments in artificial intelligence and data sharing."
At the upcoming conference, the importance of data protection in the context of artificial intelligence and data sharing will be highlighted. Additionally, the attending experts may discuss data protection in various medical fields, such as research and medical registers.
